About the Event
During this workshop we will explore with Alex how most Asana practices currently reinforce binary thinking which has created obstacles in our practice that are similar patterns to those described in the Kleshas.
The Kleshas (Spiritual Ignorance, Ego, Attraction, Aversion and Clinging to Life) are the obstacles to Yoga. Right/Wrong, Flexible/not flexible, Full posture/Modified Posture are all binary thoughts that when applied in a universal way create issues as they don’t take into account the individual person or the unique circumstances of each individual moment. These sorts of rules are usually offered in an effort to keep student’s safe, but they often don’t work and lead to a problematic outcomes that steer us away from the kind of growth that yoga’s philosophy asks us to engage with.
If we reformat our intentions so that they are rooted in and aligned with yoga’s teachings we can actually use these binary rules…
