YOU-GA
The Yoga Tree Stirling, SATURDAY 24th October 10am-12pm
I’ve been thinking a lot about this lately… As some of you know, I’ve taken time off teaching to move house and it’s been a real slog, clearing the clutter from 23 years of living in one home to move to a much smaller home.
Blinkers on and solely focussed on the immense task in front of me, there were times it consumed me. There was the never ending practical tasks that needed done and the emotional impact of leaving my much loved home of so many years. The weight of it all at times feeling too much to bear.
Then I remembered to look up, remembering why I was moving…the freedom of a smaller home, less maintenance, less work and less worry. The freedom to travel and enjoy life.
I lost the joy. My yoga practice became the dance between remembering and forgetting what and why I had begun this journey. Acknowledging the hardship whilst visualising a new life with more freedom.
This happens to all of us.
You’ve just had a baby and the sleepless nights seem endless.
You’re caring for elderly parents and the worry seems relentless.
Your job is dragging you down and your counting the days, minutes and seconds until the holiday you booked months ago.
Having the skills to understand the temporary nature of these moments in your life is at the essence of yoga.
You feel the weight of the moment, acknowledge it, then you are able to shake it off. Life doesn’t have to be easy for joy to exist. Sometimes finding joy is simply about remembering to look for it. To make space for laughter, movement, music and those moments of aliveness. But how do you do that?!
This is why I created this joyful yoga immersion…YOU-GA.
Underneath all the fun, this 2-hour yoga mat workshop we will explore the oldest teachings of yoga.
The Yoga Sutra’s remind you that so much of your suffering comes from getting entangled in the noise in your mind…the comparisons…the judging…the striving, leading you to believe that you need to be different to who you actually are. The Bhagavad Gita always brings you back to your dharma, the idea that your path is your own and that trying to live someone else’s life or practice someone else’s yoga take you further away from yourself.
Together, these teachings invite us to stop measuring our experience against others and start paying attention to what makes us feel alive. It’s YOUR body. YOUR energy. YOUR choice…YOUR PRACTICE.
There is so must freedom and joy in letting go of how yoga is supposed to look and discovering what it feels like when your practice genuinely belongs to you.
